First day training

Today was the first day I started my training program. I looked online for a program to train for a triathalon. Unfortunately, I do not have a pool membership yet, as I am very poor (just getting done Student Teaching where I teach for free all day and only work 1-2 days a week. Thank heavens for parents and boyfriends!!!). So I began with walk/jogging. I have done a couple 5K's this summer, and they didn't turn out so well. I finished the first one with little problems, but the second, I could not find a "happy place" to help me keep my endurance. So today when I decided to begin this training, I started simple. I got out there with the assumption I would walk and see how I felt later. I decided that I felt pretty good, so I jogged a lap. Oh yea...the program said to walk for 20 minutes. It took me 10 minutes to walk a lap and jog a lap around my little street/development. So walking and jogging one lap each is now officially one of my rotations. I was able to complete two rotations and before you know it my 20 minutes was done. It actually didn't feel like much. Even though I felt good and wanted to continue, I didn't. I didn't want to push myself to the point that I don't wanna do it again. I have a goal to get in shape and do this triathalon. I want to do this so I look sexy for my boyfriend. And as much as I want that for him, I finally want it for me. I think that is really what I needed.

My trick today at work was that I revved myself up for it. All day, I said, "I'm going to start my program today. You know the triathalon I wanted to do, well starting December, I have nothing better to do, so I'm doing it!" Everyone I talked to, I told them I was running today (so I at least sounded like I was starting from somewhere more than I was). What also didn't hurt, is that my pants were huge on me today and I know they were not that big, nor was I, last year.

I did feel motivated and it was a huge day. Unfortunately tomorrow is the day off that the program alots for me but it works out because I have work (my first day this week). So until Friday....

Remember: Talk about what you want to do, all day to anyone who will listen. This will get you encouraged for when you get home to actually work out.
